Heroin

In 2007, while reporting for the first time on drug users in Kabul, I took habit to do portraits of them.
Soon, that becomes a kind of “tit for tat”. They let me reporting on their daily life, and I,  I do their portrait in return.
A “beautiful” portrait of them, who doesn’t show them in a deteriorating situation. Photographs where they pose, where they are proud of themselves. I give them then the picture they can send to their families. Or at least they can watch.
By the symbolic act of photography, I try to give back a bit of dignity to those who have sometimes lost it.
